About Us:
The Donovans added Donovan's Shady Harbor Marina in New Baltimore, New York
(located about 13 miles south of Albany, New York) to their successful portfolio of
companies in April 2011, and as avid boaters themselves, they have a firm commitment
to restore Shady Harbor to the premier status the facility deserves. Together with
the Yanni Family, who operate the new Yanni's Cucina Waterfront Restaurant at the
Marina, the Donovans are successfully returning the Marina to world-class status.
About the Position:
In support of the Donovans' mission to provide first-class service and quality
marine support, they have initiated a search for a seasoned Marina General Manager
to join Donovan's Shady Harbor Marina during the first quarter of 2012. This is a
full-time, regular employment opportunity.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Marina General Manager with the
demonstrated ability to direct the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the
Marina's 110-slip docks, facilities, grounds and employees demonstrating superior
knowledge, judgment and customer service. Ideally, our successful candidate is also
an avid boater who loves the water and outdoors, and is familiar with the New
Baltimore, New York area.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee daily operation and sale of fuel, oil, ice, sewage pumpouts,
boat launch, transient slips and all other products or services provided at the
marina.
Maintain a level of professional expertise and image that promotes efficient use
of the resources available to the marina and its customers.
Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling of seasonal employees.
Provide training, supervision and management of all marina employees in proper,
safe work conditions and procedures. Ensure training and compliance of OSHA and
other related regulations as they pertain to employees and marina operation.
Develop weekly work schedules for employees and oversee work tasks assigned to
employees.
Tracks and reconciles of all monies received from daily transactions.
Prepare reports, correspondence, budgets and payroll information.
Make provisions for the readiness of all docks, equipment and facilities.
Prepares an annual preventive maintenance schedule for all marina facilities,
grounds and equipment for review.
Prepares an annual marina budget with recommendations on any remodeling,
repairing, altering or construction of additional facilities.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, related field or equivalent work experience. A
minimum of eight years of progressive marina general management experience and
demonstrated results is essential. Five years of experience in a management role
with responsibility for the productivity or development of others. The candidate
must have the ability to interact effectively with employees and customers in
challenging situations responding with superior customer service.
